2012 Swim raises over £40,000

“The Presentation Evening for the 2012 New Year’s Day Swim was held at the St Brides Spa Hotel on Wednesday, May 2nd. Saundersfoot Festivities would like to thank all swimmers, sponsors and helpers for contributing to the magnificent £40,622 raised by the Swim. The generosity of sponsors ensured that every penny raised was donated to charity. Among the recipients were 13 charities who received at least £1000, two of whom, Cancer Research and Noah’s Ark received over £2000.

The individual Fancy Dress winner was Nicola Prosser and the group award went to Malin House. The prizes were generously donated by James McNamara of Bluestone.

Main guests at the Presentation were Dominic Day of the Scarlets, Mandy Alsop (Chairperson, Saundersfoot Community Council), James McNamara of Bluestone and Nicola Hurst of Powell’s Cottage Holidays, the Main Sponsors of the Swim. The guests helped to present the numerous certificates, awards and cheques.”

Swimmers Maureen Webb, Juliet Evans and Karen Pearce, who, between them, raised over £700 in sponsorship, present the regional    Paul Sartori chairperson, Liz Mozdiak, with a cheque. Also in the photograph are Dominic Day of the Scarlets and Swim Chairman, Martyn Williams.

Winner of the Betty Duncan Cup for the highest sponsored swimmer was Harvey Jones. Harvey raised a fantastic individual Swim record of £5713 and is pictured receiving his trophy from Dominic Day.
