A New Year’s Day Swim has been organised at Saundersfoot since 1984 by Saundersfoot Festivities. We have so far raised in excess of £175,000 for charity and the 2007 swim raised over £25,000.

Since the year 2000 the event has been sponsored by Oakwood Country Park. The record fundraising achieved in recent years is due in no small measure to the organisational skills and professionalism provided by Oakwood. They also provide family tickets for the highest sponsored swimmer, the best fancy dressed individual and also the best fancy dressed team. In 2007 the highest sponsored swimmer was Linda Hayward, who collected over £900. Stepaside Coachworks have dominated the team award with their innovative fancy dress, and this year shared the prize with the team from the Royal Oak.
