Among the recipients were 10 charities who received at least £1000, the highest cheques being £4,750 to ‘Rory’s Fund’ and £3,000 to ‘Rudy’s Trust Fund’.

The Presentation Evening for the 2014 Saundersfoot New Year’s Day Swim was held at the St Brides Spa Hotel on Thursday, 8th May. Saundersfoot Festivities thanked all swimmers, sponsors and helpers for contributing to the magnificent £37,505 raised by the Swim, which has benefited over 50 charitable and worthy causes. The generosity of the commercial sponsors ensured that every penny raised was donated to charity.

Main guests at the Presentation were Christian Done (Powell’s Cottage Holidays – Main Sponsor), Cllr Huw Morris and (Chairman, Saundersfoot Community Council). The guests helped to present the numerous certificates, awards and cheques.

Winner of the Betty Duncan Cup for the highest sponsored swimmer was Eirwen Cole who raised a fantastic £1,400 towards ‘Rudy’s Trust Fund’.

The individual fancy dress award was presented to Mick Booth, Saundersfoot, who dressed as up as 'Charlie Shivers’ for the swim. Group fancy dress winner was Wogan Guest House, for their mammoth Noah’s Ark effort.

Members of Tenby United Swifts Under 14’s received a cheque for £500. The Under 14’s are regular swimmers and over the past 5 years have raised over £10,000 – a great team effort.

During the presentation Martyn Williams took time to thank everybody who was involved in making the 30th swim the event that it was, namely all the emergency services, safety personnel, stewards, bucket collectors and sponsors.
